Journalist uncovers secrets in new novel The Sacrament
SALEM, Ore. (PRWEB) January 26, 2015
A mysterious stranger arriving at the scene of those about to die prompts a journalist to look deeper into the identity of this strange man. This is the driving force behind author David Houser’s new novel, “The Sacrament” (published by Abbott Press).
Investigative reporter Sam Noll has heard multiple accounts of a man referred to as “El Padre.” According to the stories, El Padre is beckoned to those about to die. Sam has been given the assignment to figure out if El Padre is a man or myth. When Sam discovers a pattern to El Padre’s appearances, he will uncover the secret behind a man some believe to be an angel.
Houser hopes that readers walk away from his book with the realization that everything has a purpose.
An excerpt from “The Sacrament”:
“Not in over sixty years had El Padre witnessed such a grand scale of casual indifference for human life. Judgment for such atrocities, though, could not be his focal point. His attention had to be for the patiently waiting, for they spoke to him a language only he could translate, only he was left to decipher. It’s the summoning for completion, for the words that allowed them to lay their head for the final time and leave all they knew behind with contentment. El Padre lifted his face toward the heavens and nodded with the heavy acknowledgment of responsibility. With the gravity and enormous depth of the circumstances in front of him, he gathered his faculties and began to see to the dying in the way he’d been allowed to perform for more years than any other.”
